Kaci's view of the North Fork

Kaci had her first trip down the north fork of the Lewis River on Sunday.  My brother Jake and his girlfriend Sarabeth invited me on their kayak trip.  And my lovely husband invited himself and Kaci along.  No kayak for them...instead they brought the drift boat.  I am pretty sure that will be the last time he does that...

It wasn't terrible, but she was very unhappy that I kept paddling away from their boat.  She also hates her life jacket...but not wearing one is not an option for the little princess.  A lot of whining was done, but I think in the end she had fun.  She did end up taking a sweet little nap in the boat for the last half hour of the trip.

I enjoyed myself though!  This trip was a lot more exciting, with the water running faster than my previous trips.  I also ran  a few rapids this time.  I can't wait to go again.

My blister...
Don't make fun of my fat thumbs.

And I will leave you with a couple cute pictures of Kaci in the hay field:

Puzzled

I think this is odd.  Kevin picked me up a whistle to tie on my life jacket for kayaking (its the law).  He got it at his favorite high quality store - Harbour Freight.  Here is the whistle:

And here is the warning that was attached:
I do not know how to rotate

Dang...and to think I was just getting ready to scrape ashes!  Since when do whistles require safety goggles?

Things I Have Learned During The Past Week

  • I like Sauvignon Blanc better then Chardonnay.  Delish.  Refreshing.  Lady like.
  • 3 hours is the maximum time that Kaci can spend in the car before she has a melt down.  Saturday we went to a family reunion on Kevin's Mom's side of the family.  The reunion was in Waitsburg, WA which is on the east side of the state.  My favorite side of the state...just for the record.  I am the kind of person who does not want to stop for anything when traveling somewhere.  (My husband is just the opposite...he likes to make as many stops as possible.  But I will save this story for another day)  What does make me want to stop though is the ear piercing whine that escapes from Kaci after too long in the carseat.  We managed though, stopping for a pit-stop on the way up at Kevin's brothers house.  On the way back we stopped at the Bonneville Dam and fish hatchery.
  • Kaci does not have the self control to take just a few crackers.
  • Trampolines never go out of style

  • Kevin will always take a wrong exit at some point when driving through the Tri-Cities.  This wrong turn reminded us that we will be back up at the end of July for BOAT RACE WEEKEND!
  • Kaci has grown...a lot!
  • The coolest name for a cat is Winnie Cooper.

RIP Rocky.  You will be missed.
